A picnic in the park

The weather is rapidly getting colder in Germany and, the other weekend, we decided to make the most of a sunny and fairly warm day to enjoy a late afternoon picnic in the park. We went to the Herrngarten in Darmstadt. Brandon loved it, and he especially enjoyed his food.

Check out my plateful of food.
Heehee, I've hardly made a dent in my food but I've been eating for ages.
Maybe shouting will build-up my appetite
Yip, that did the trick now I can have more of my breadroll.
Delicious!
See, my mouth is empty - better full it up.

Grrr....I'm demolishing my roll, I don't even need hands for it.

Mom and dad finished eating ages ago but I'm still going strong!

Time to burn off some calories.

When I suggested we burn off some calories and play ball, I didn't know it also involved running after the ball...which one of us is going to fetch it?

DUCKS

Yip, the piece of bread is really for the ducks but I'm just having a little taste test.

Ludwighohe

We decided to try and find a place called Ludwighohe on Sunday. We had read that it has a beautiful view, restaurant and playground but we never actually got there because the walk would've taken too long. This is mostly because we were letting Brandon walk on his own and he gets distracted with stones, sticks and leaves and insists on stopping to inspect all of these things. Instead, we had a lovely walk through a forest area and Brandon had a great time exploring. There seemed to be some art/creative projects along the path which made it an interesting walk (we never picked up a pamphlet explaining it all so we couldn't actually say what it was all about).

A sphere of recycled materials.

A creek (Brandon had to stop and check it out)

A creatively-styled hut

A bridge to get across the creek

Brad and Brandon climbed some boulders and found a path to walk along.

Brad navigating his way along the path.

Time to climb down to mommy.
This is the way to travel when one gets tired of walking.

When eating your lunch you should start with the sweet things!

Then you should lick the peanut butter off your sandwich

Once you've successfully licked as much peanut butter off as you can (and also smeared some all over your face and hands) you should then just gobble the sandwich up whole.

And that's how you eat your lunch!

What do you mean this drawer if for my sister's clothes?

I was trying pack away some of the clothes for our little girl but Brandon insisted on sitting in the drawer and throwing out any clothes I put in it. Eventually I got it packed but it took forever.

Story time

Brandon is very much into his books these days. He doesn't want to look at them by himself but he loves it if one of us reads with him. He points at things and makes us tell him what they are. He gets exceptionally excited if there's a dog, ball or mouse in the books. He's then able to say 'woof woof', 'bal' or 'mou'.

Reading together before Brandon's bedtime.

This is fun. Dad's not often home for story time. And normally we read books on the couch so this is an extra special treat.

BBQ time

We went to one of Brad's colleagues for a BBQ on Sunday. They live in Bensheim and have two kids, one is 5 and the other 3. We knew them from Korea, they had come over to Seoul for 6 months when their 5 year old was just a 6 month old baby. We had a good time at their house, the weather was great and they had a lovely garden with lots of things to play with. Brandon had a ball.

Brandon loves these little bikes but he's just too short to sit on the seat properly, another few months and he might be able to get one.

Time to dance

Playing with a water-way

Swishing water around with a stick is such fun

Dinner time

Messing around at home

Messing around with mom's sunglasses after bathtime.
I had a bit of a fall at the playground today, that's why I have some scrapes under my nose. There was a horrible little girl who kept pushing me over and when I was on the jungle-gym mom heard a thud and I'd fallen face first down a little step. The mean little girl was on the jungle-gym with me when I fell!!!
I wear the weirdest outfits to bed! But at least I look cool.

Dad was given a mini vuvuzela, I can't really blow it properly but I love pretending and making the noise myself.
